Engineering Planner/Estimator
Northern Cape – 150 km from Kimberley
Salary – R35 000 CTC – R50 000 CTC

Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 Full Higher Grade Maths and Science as subjects
• A recognised Trade Certificate
• Project Management qualification
• Prima Vera is advantageous
• Code EB driver’s license
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing project engineering cost estimations and controls
• Project scheduling experience on large multi-discipline engineering projects would be an advantage
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English
• Sound knowledge of underground disciplines
• Ability to plan, organize and prioritize
• Good customer and interpersonal skills
• Good project management skills

Duties (Including but not limited to)
• Assist with the preparation of Life of Mine budget planning for Engineering through cost model building
• Assist with the preparation of financial year budget for Engineering through cost model building
• Manage day-to-day Engineering and some ancillary budgets
• Draw up bill of materials for Engineering contractors and management
• Assess whether costs have been spent as per plan through investigations and remedial action where required
• Ensure effective cost saving initiatives
• Draw up Class 1, 2 and 3 estimates for personnel and equipment resources, under the supervision of the Project Engineer.
• Draw up detailed work, using network analysis techniques, according to the major milestone of the Project Master Plan.
• Provides outline parameter to contractors to ensure that their detailed schedules are compatible with primary time parameters
• Coordinate the purchase of equipment by contractors and Mine, as required, and liaise with the Buyer as to the availability of equipment
• Monitor contractor office and site progress (this includes checking a contractors labour, materials and equipment resource availability)
• Assist the Project Engineer with preparation of the technical documentation required for the procurement of equipment, materials and contracts
• Draw up checklist of priorities and a supplier contact-file, based on a list of critical items, project schedules and promised delivery dates
• Notifies the Project Engineer of any delays with the scheduled delivery dates of equipment and materials by suppliers, if these will affect the construction programme
• Assist with the preparation of Scopes of Work for engineering tenders
